MASTERCLASS ASSISTANT opportunity

Are you a passionate and skilled traditional musician or dancer looking to gain hands-on teaching experience in a world-class festival environment? Belfast TradFest is seeking enthusiastic Masterclass Assistants to assist in the delivery of our renowned Summer School. 

This is ideal for early-career musicians, music students, or recent graduates with a strong grounding in traditional music or dance who are eager to develop their teaching and facilitation skills.

Overview: 

Belfast TradFest is one of the leading traditional music festivals in Ireland, celebrating traditional music, song, and dance. Our annual Summer School attracts world-class musicians and students from across the globe for a week of masterclasses, workshops, sessions, and performances. 

Masterclass Assistants will play an important supporting role in ensuring that both the Masterclasses and their tutors Afternoon Events run smoothly, this would include: 

  • Setting up and maintaining spaces for masterclass and tutor afternoon events.  

  • Supporting tutors throughout the class and assisting with class materials and schedules. 

  • Welcoming participants, checking attendance, and communicating updates from Summer School Co-Ordinator.  

  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment 

  • Assisting with tutor afternoon events (talks, lectures, instrument clinic etc.), setting up the space / tech, greeting attendees and ensuring the event runs smoothly. 

  • Maintaining a friendly and professional attitude as you represent Belfast TradFest. 

  • Contributing to the vibrant, welcoming spirit of the summer school. 

Who we’re looking for: 

  • Skilled traditional musicians / dancers  

  • Individuals with a professional attitude, approachable demeanor and good communication skills 

  • Applicants aged 18 or older 

  • Must be available 9am – 1.30pm from 28th July – 1st August 2025.
