The promise shown by acclaimed bodhrán player Aimée Farrell Courtney’s debut performance in Dublin’s National Concert Hall at the tender age of eight was realised when she won the 2010 World Bodhrán Championship. Aimee’s dynamic playing ranges from her renowned sensitive style of accompaniment to electrifying rhythmic solos and duets. With a passion for teaching, Aimée has conducted workshops worldwide and in 2016 founded the Traddrum Clinic, Ireland’s first and only percussion clinic dedicated to the Bodhrán.  

Robbie Harris is a highly sought-after bodhrán player and percussionist. Over the years he has recorded and performed with many world-renowned artists including Bobby McFerrin, Afro Celt Sound System, Clannad, Bob Geldof, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Kodaline, Brian Kennedy, Steve Cooney, Dónal Lunny, The High Kings and many others. Robbie has having toured extensively with Riverdance – The Show and Heartbeat of Home, was a guest lecturer at The Julliard and The New School, NYC, and as musical director of The Rhythm Corporation has led a twenty strong drum corps at international sporting events. 

The Summer School’s team of tutors is made up of internationally renowned performers with proven track records as teachers and educationalists. The primary means of teaching and learning will be ‘by ear’ with an emphasis in the less experienced classes of assisting pupils to develop oral/aural skills in addition to instrumental competency and developing core repertoire. All classes are designed for intermediate to advanced (minimum 2 years instrument experience) adults and children over 6 years of age except bodhrán, set dancing, sean nós dancing, traditional singing & sean nós singing which are suitable for beginners.
