Birmingham born Kevin Crawford’s early life was one long journey into Irish music and Co. Clare, to where he eventually moved while in his 20’s. Kevin is best known as a founding member of Moving Cloud and current member of Ireland’s cutting-edge traditional band, Lúnasa. He has released several solo albums and as a high calibre multi-instrumentalist also in demand, Kevin has collaborated with many artists including Joe Derrane, Natalie Merchant and Susan McKeown.

Born to Irish parents, Catherine McEvoy grew up surrounded by music in an Irish emigrant community in Birmingham. With such influences as Josie McDermott, Peg McGrath, Seamus Tansey and Patsy Hanley in her early years, she soon came to prominences as one of the groundbreaking female flute players of her generation; receiving the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Musician of the Year (2019). Catherine was a member of the first all-female traditional group Macalla and is now considered one of the best exponents of the Sligo - Roscommon style of flute playing.

Gary Hastings is an exceptionally talented flute player. Originally from East Belfast he learned to play bagpipes in the local Boys’ Brigade band. He later got swept up in the traditional music revival while studying in Coleraine, influenced by legendary musicians Cathal McConnell, Len Graham, Joe Holmes, Mick Hoy and Eddie Duffy. He has recorded CDs with Fr Séamus Quinn — 'Slán le hÉirne', and also with the Chieftains and Frankie Gavin.

The Summer School’s team of tutors is made up of internationally renowned performers with proven track records as teachers and educationalists. The primary means of teaching and learning will be ‘by ear’ with an emphasis in the less experienced classes of assisting pupils to develop oral/aural skills in addition to instrumental competency and developing core repertoire. All classes are designed for intermediate to advanced (minimum 2 years instrument experience) adults and children over 6 years of age except bodhrán, set dancing, sean nós dancing, traditional singing & sean nós singing which are suitable for beginners.
